One of Boston’s most exciting weekends is coming up fast, and if you still haven’t grabbed your tickets to our city’s biggest music fest, here’s 7 reasons that will pull you over the edge:
1. The Headliners
It might seem obvious, but think about it: where else are you going to get to the chance to see acts as big as Twenty-One Pilots, Tame Impala, and Travis Scott all perform in the same weekend? The stars of the show are the stars for a reason, and they’re sure to give you a performance you’ll be raving about for a lifetime.
2. The Undercard
The Boston Calling headliners might be great, but with an undercard as strong as this one they’re sure to not be the only acts worth seeing. Are you a fan of punk? On the lower lines you’ll find acts like Turnstyle, Shame, and White Reaper. Indie? Then you’ve got Gang of Youths, Superorganism, Rolling Blackouts Coastal Fever, and many more. R&B? Ravyn Lenae and Kilo Kish are there. Hip-Hop? Then you can catch Princess Nokia, SOB X RBE, and Lil Nas X. Plus, there’s great local stars like Guster, Sidney Gish, and Pile.
3. The Venue
Harvard Athletic Complex might not have a super catchy name, but when it comes to hosting a music fest there’s no better spot in town. With four huge stages and plenty of room for more, this spot is the ideal place for a festival like Boston Calling, especially during the gorgeous Boston spring.
4. The Merch
After a day at the fest, who can resist grabbing something from the merch vender on the way out? Here, you’ll find plenty to satisfy the merch-freak t-shirt junkie in all of us, with special Boston Calling exclusives from all your favorite acts.
5. The Food
Yeah, you’re here for the music, but at some point you’re going to need a break from the hours of mosh pits and crowd surfing to grab a bite. When the time comes to eat, the options are endless. From Fenway neighborhood staples like Tasty Burger and El Pelon Taqueria, to greater Boston classics such as Roxy’s Grilled Cheese and Zinneken's Waffles, Boston Calling is sure to have something to satisfy every fest-goers appetite.
6. The Drinks
The days of festivals past, with their hour-plus water fountain waits are long gone, and at Boston Calling there’s sure to be more than enough to keep you hydrated and happy for the whole fest. Special things to check out include beer gardens from Sam Adams & Angry Orchard, along with special VIP offerings from Ketel One and Bulliet.
7. The Arena
Brand-new for this year, the Arena promises up-close, intimate performances from your favorite electronic acts. With artists like Yaeji, Snakehips, and Chromeo all holding special DJ sets, this stage is the perfect place to escape the heat and get your dance on.
Have you been convinced? The festival will be held at the Harvard Athletic Complex in Allston, MA from May 24th to 26th.
